What inspires you to keep on dancing?
I HAVE TO dance; it has always been a huge part of my life. I love creating, challenging myself and others, and mentoring students who love dance and performing as much I do.
Favourite healthy meal is…
Chia porridge with raspberries, blueberries, nuts and yoghurt….yum! I get bored with the same food all the time so my favourite will probably change again in a week!
Have you ever been injured? If so, how has it affected you?
I have been very lucky to have avoided too many serious injuries in my career, however a broken metatarsal in my foot certainly was not fun. At the time I was devastated because I was working in Germany then. But I just didn’t give up; I concentrated on recovering properly and simply got creative when choosing the auditions to go for until I had fully recovered. I have learnt that any injury is not just physical; it is hard emotionally and psychologically. You have to be kind to yourself, take the time to recover properly and learn as much about your body as you can.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Trust yourself. In an industry where you are often told you are not right for a job, you need to trust in your abilities, know your strengths and keep striving.
Why Dance Central?
It is a power house of driven, passionate people who are also kind, supportive and simply love what they do.
