Troupe is an intensive technical training program to cater to students wanting to perform and push themselves. It’s the next step for dancers with anywhere from a little to a lot of experience who want to extend their skills.

Exciting news!

Our Troupe program is now offering a development package for Troupe students who want to break into competing.

Two age groups are available:

  • 8 to 12 years
  • 12 to 16 years.

ABOUT EISTEDDFOD

The Eisteddfod originated as a Welsh festival and competition of the performing arts and has roots that go as far back as the 12th century. Since then, regional, national, and international competitions have continued to be held the world over. In Australia, Eisteddfods have been in existence since the late 19th century.

ABOUT OUR TROUPES

Troupe at Dance Central welcomes all genders and most ages, beginning from age 8 years and continuing through to 18 years. Each Troupe is designed for a particular age group, in line with the standard Eisteddfod competitive categories:

  • Under 10s
  • Under 12s
  • Under 14s
  • Open

WHAT TROUPE OFFERS

SCHEDULE

Being part of Troupe allows you more hours of dance a week for a heavily discounted price.

Example Troupe schedule

9-12hrs a week, including:

  • Ballet
  • Troupe training (learning a competition routine in your troupe)
  • Contemporary technique
  • Jazz technique
  • Acrobatics
  • Strength and conditioning

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Being in a Troupe at DC expands dancers’ opportunities, allowing them to see what they can achieve with dedicated training and commitment. The performance aspect and small group focus build confidence and resilience. At the core of the program are the great friendships created through
teamwork and common goals.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

The focus of the program is on the many competitions and performances throughout the year. Dance Central has a strong competitive edge and are one of the most highly awarded troupes in the Canberra and Sydney region.

Because of the intensive and specialised nature of the program, we offer a dedicated point of contact for all questions about the program, requirements, and concerns. The Eisteddfod Coordinator is Bonnie Neate who can be contacted during business hours.

HOW TO APPLY

Successful applicants are selected based on auditions held at the end of each year. If you’d like to join at another time, please contact the coordinator to discuss this further.
