Featuring our very own Alenka Nappo — Barre Body Teacher, omelette-lover, and all-round gorgeous thing!
We sat down recently with this self-proclaimed lover of health, fitness and to talk all things wellbeing.
Firstly, we were desperate to find out what it was that kept Alenka motivated on those days where you just don’t feel like pausing Netflix and getting off the couch.
“Doing what works for you and your lifestyle is so important, always remembering you want to be fit, healthy and feel good about yourself comes with living an active lifestyle,” says Alenka.
“A brilliant way to stay interested and motivated in exercise is to get into group exercise classes, which is why DC FIT is perfect, as you’ll find yourself surrounded by other like-minded individuals who have similar desires and goals as yourself.”
Not only does Alenka love her job at Dance Central because it allows her to live out her passion for wellness, but also because of the impact she has on the lives of those who attend her classes.
“I love teaching DC FIT classes because seeing the positive physical changes that happen with your regular attendees is so rewarding!” says Alenka.
We know it can be difficult to maintain a well-balanced diet, especially when you’re time-poor. So we just had to know what was Alenka’s go-to meal for those days when you only have a few minutes to spare before running out the door.
“I love a quick omelette,” she explains.
“It’s so fast and easy! You just crack however many eggs you want and add whatever extras you feel like — capsicum, kale, spinach, onion, rocket, ham, tomato or mushroom! It’s super filling and healthy.” Sounds delicious to us!
It’s obvious that wellness plays a large role in Alenka’s everyday life, so we were interested to know what wellness means to her as a whole.
“Wellbeing for me is keeping fit, healthy, maintaining a balanced diet, being creative and valuing family, friends and myself! But mostly laughing and loving life. I really am a strong believer in keeping exercise as a big part of your wellbeing.”
As for Alenka’s best piece of advice for people who are ‘too busy’ to maintain their health and fitness:
“I believe it’s important to listen to your body if you’re too busy to work out, take a day or two off, and be gentle with yourself if you need a break. The important thing is to get back on track as soon as you can” says Alenka.
You can catch Alenka in her element teaching Barre Body classes every Tuesday night at 7:45pm to 8:30pm and Saturday mornings 9:30am to 10:15am here at DC Fit.
